OUTREACH AND NEW MEMBERS
Member Involvement and Attendance
Overall focus is to match members' skills and needs with ministries
and to utilize all members to their full potential. Everyone should be
encouraged to take an active role in one or more ministries in order to
strengthen their faith and commitment to the Lord.
Leaders should...
Develop a new member questionnaire/talent identification survey that can be
used to match members with ministries that can use their particular skills or
with the ministry or member(s) who can help with their needs. This includes
various worship areas, as well as special skills that are directly or
indirectly related to ministries.
Develop a member orientation program, and administer the new member
questionnaire/talent identification survey to all new members. Assign at least
one specific role to each new member no later than two weeks after membership.
Conduct an annual work fair and periodically update new member
questionnaire/talent identification survey for all members.
Pass selected survey information to appropriate ministry leaders for
action.
Ensure the pictorial directory is maintained and that updates are made at
least quarterly.
Update ministry handbook regularly as needed with the assistance of
ministry leaders.
Promote use of the building and facilities by community organizations such
as scouts, teen centers, homeless shelters, unwanted pregnancy assistance,
college extension activities, summer children and youth activities, etc.
Establish and publish guidelines and policy for use of the building. Ensure
community use is consistent with Church goals and principles.
Plan, organize and advertise one or more special events that promote the
Church in the community (prayer service, community projects, etc.).
Involve the Church in local activities and civic projects with a view
toward educating the community about Christ and His church.
Establish a method, involving as many members as possible, to contact all
visitors within one week of their visit.
Establish tracking method to ensure continuation of visitor contacts.
